The Complete Crumb Comics
A peek into the mind of the father of underground comics. The multiple award-winning The Complete Crumb Comics series—the definitive, comprehensive series reprinting the entirety of Crumb`s oeuvre—reaches the end of the 1980s with this 17th volume. Of most interest to Crumb fans is the inclusion of the first two issues of Crumb`s only solo title of the decade, Hup , from 1987. The last few years of the decade was an unusually fertile period for Crumb both artistically crumb phreaking and quantitatively. After Crumb handed over the editorial chores of his own Weirdo magazine to cartoonist Peter Bagge, Crumb produced three issues of Hup by the end of the decade crumb phreaking and continued to contribute to Weirdo . Hup is considered by many to be amongst Crumb`s very best comic titles, featuring the artist at his most misanthropic crumb phreaking and satirical. My Troubles with Women, Pt. 2, If I Were King, The Ruff-Tuff Cream Puffs Take Charge, crumb phreaking and The Mighty Power Fems vs. the Horrible Homunculi—each lives up to their titles crumb phreaking and shows Crumb at his most confidently trenchant crumb phreaking and anachronistic. Also featured are Crumb`s contributions to Weirdo s 22-24, his iconic A Short History of America poster, updated for The Whole Earth Review in 1988, crumb phreaking and a color section of miscellaneous book covers, magazine illustrations, music-related art crumb phreaking and other suprises from the period. The Complete Crumb leaves no stone unturned, delivering everything from Crumb`s published comic strips to commercial artwork crumb phreaking and rarely-if-ever seen treasures from private collections crumb phreaking and the artist`s archives. This volume, as usual, includes a new introduction from Crumb about this period in his life, covering his last few years in Northern California before moving to the South of France in the early 1990s.
